CLAYTON GUNN ART
Clayton Gunn is an Australian painter working across abstraction, expressionism and impressionism.
Based in Central Victoria and living with schizophrenia, Clayton developed painting as both a creative necessity and a means of giving form to experiences too difficult to express in words.
‘It’s like unloading your thoughts onto the canvas’, ‘you may not know how to express yourself, but with color, shape and texture, you can’, ‘it’s almost like medicine’.
With a range of paintings covering abstract structures, landscapes, remnants of what may have been, Clayton’s work shows a sense of natural recovery within his work. There may have been an event, but looking closely, there is still light, shadow, and life within the forms, insisting that it’s not over yet.
